Path Coefficients

Fundamentals of Social Statistics by Adam J. McKee

Path coefficients are numbers that are analogous to b and beta weights in regression analysis; they usually appear over the arrows in the path diagram.  Standardized structural coefficients are what researchers are usually referring to when path coefficients are spoken of without qualification, most often it is the standardized form.  As with OLS, these are important in comparing the relative strengths of relationships.  These are measured in standard deviation units.  Unstandardized coefficients are based on covariances and have no common metric.
