Advanced Regression Models

So far in this text, we’ve discussed a type of regression that depends on a specific way of estimating the formula for a line. This is sometimes referred to as Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression (I’ll use the unpretentious name of regular regression). Researchers use several different techniques when the assumptions of OLS cannot be met in a particular study. Below we will discuss some of these variants on the “family” of regression techniques. We will consider several of these techniques in more detail in a later section.
