Course: Drugs

Physical dependence refers to the physiological changes that occur in a person’s body due to chronic drug or alcohol use.

These changes can lead to withdrawal symptoms when the person stops using the substance, making it difficult to quit it without professional help. Physical dependence is often a component of addiction and can lead to drug-seeking behavior and other criminal activities to obtain or finance drug use.
