In the criminal justice context, a hacker is an individual who uses computer skills to gain unauthorized access to computer systems, networks, or personal information.

This can include activities such as stealing sensitive data, disrupting or shutting down systems and spreading malware. Hackers may use various methods, such as exploiting vulnerabilities in software, guessing or cracking passwords, or social engineering. Criminal hacking activities are illegal and punishable by law.
